Chaminade celebrated its 2011 Homecoming with a win 31-6 win over Mission League opponent, St. Paul on Friday, October 14. The win capped off a fun-filled week of Homecoming activities during which students competed in various competitions and participated in spirit dress days – instead of the usual uniform, picture a sea of tourists (it was a Moroccan themed week) or students clad in orange and blue.
On Thursday, October 20, both campuses took Eagle pride to a new level with a Homecoming rally for the High School and a pep rally for the Middle School. High School students crowned their king, Drew Miller, and enjoyed performances by the dance and cheer teams. Middle School students met a few of the Varsity football players and learned a new rallying cry for game day.
By 4:30 p.m. on Friday, when the Homecoming midway of booths opened, the West Hills campus was full of orange-and-blue-clad Chaminade fans. During halftime, the school’s national award-winning dance team performed an Aladdin-themed dance routine; and even when the music cut-out near the end of their performance, these talented dancers kept going and the crowd loved it! Nade students also crowned their 2011 Homecoming Queen, Jessie Keenan.
Homecoming also kicked off Reunion Weekend for alumni, and Chaminade welcomed more than 200 of them back to campus on Friday night! The oldest alumnus in attendance was from the Class of 1956, while the youngest were from 2011. In honor of their 50th reunion, the Class of 1961 stepped out on the Deep Blue C and was introduced to the crowd. While many alumni who visited live locally or within the United States (New York, New Jersey, Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Washington, and Kansas), others came from as far away as Munich, Singapore, Mexico, England and Canada.
What a great Homecoming it was for Chaminade, and everyone looks forward to next year!
