Girls’ Tennis Makes Finals Appearance

team-7

The Chaminade Girls’ tennis team played in the CIF Southern Section Division 4 final, the team’s first finals appearance in 19 years (previous CIF titles in 1983, 1986 and 1997). The #4-ranked Eagles’ run through the playoffs included a win in the semifinals over undefeated #1-ranked Elsinore High School. This earned them a place in the finals against Thatcher School on Friday, November 11, at the Claremont Tennis Club.  Although Chaminade was the runner-up, this young team—mostly freshmen and sophomores, led by a few veteran seniors and juniors—performed admirably. Coach Ron Frankel is proud of the team’s achievement and foresees similar success in the coming seasons.

Chaminade has three players continuing to the CIF Sectionals for individual singles and doubles championships. Sofia Lazzroni ’19 will play singles at Cate School in Carpenteria; Sofi DeBelles ’20 and Lauren Lombardi ’20 will play doubles at Carpenteria High School.  First round matches are on Monday, November 21.

  1. Would like to see some current coverage on wrestling. Other sports are thoroughly covered. We are out of state and would appreciate it.
    Thank you
