Chaminade Softball battled back from a 3-1 deficit in the top of the sixth inning during the CIF-SS Division 5 Championship game against John W. North High School (North) to win the title. This is the Eagles’ first CIF softball title since 2007.

Chaminade went into the sixth inning, down two runs. With one out, and the bases loaded, Gabby Hensley ’20 tied up the game at 3-3 after her at bat. Then Alexis Klee hit a sacrifice fly to center field, and the Eagles took the lead, 4-3. Junior pitcher Tessa Magnanimo closed out the bottom of the inning on six pitches.

In the seventh, freshman Payton Wagner hit an RBI single to put the Eagles up two runs over the Huskies. Magnanimo completed the game on 92 pitches and four hits, and Chaminade defeated North, 5-3.
