Wednesday, February 10, marked the start to a very important time in the Church and our community, the beginning of Lent. Over the next six weeks, Chaminade will be participating in many Lenten activities. Our theme this year is Journey to Mercy. Pope Francis has declared this year a year of Mercy and so, campus ministry is inviting all of our Chaminade community on a journey to mercy, and to experience the joy of God’s everlasting love and forgiveness. Each week, we will celebrate and commit to working on one value and how it helps in our Journey to Mercy. Our weekly themes include:
- Fast – Create Space In Your Life
- Pray – Make Time to Read and Pray
- Serve – Consider How You Value Others
- Give – Use Your Gifts and Talents
- Thank – Thank Someone Special
- Reflect – Make a Change for the Better
In the following, weeks we have many school wide events such as the blood drive, Stations of the Cross prayer service, a Sunday Life Mass and our Holy Thursday Para Liturgy. Campus ministry will also be hosting many service opportunities for our community including a lunchtime sandwich making, Teens for Jeans, making knot blankets for the organization Binky Patrol, a canned food collection drive, and a middle school house competition benefiting the Marianist organization called Partnering with the Poor. Information regarding Lenten activities on both our Chatsworth and West Hills campuses can be found online and through the Chaminade This Week email newsletter. We invite our Chaminade community to take advantage of these great opportunities that will help you in your personal journey to mercy.
