Conor McCullough ’09 Competes in the Olympics

Conor McCullough ’09 competed in the Olympic Men’s Hammer Throw qualifications this morning and ranked 16th with a throw of 72.88m. He competed against 31 other Olympians, and is the highest ranking Team USA athlete for this event. A full replay of the event is available online. McCullough throws with Group B.

  • Two member passes and two guest passes for regular season, basketball games at Uribe Sports Center
  • One reserved parking space in the Stadium Club area for each regular season, home football game
  • Invitation for four people to Stadium Club tailgate on September 2, 2016
  • Invitation for four adults (21 and over) to Stadium Club End of Season Party on November 4, 2016

Stadium club passes are for regular season football and girls’ and boys’ basketball games only. All playoff and CIF games are excluded and must be purchased separately. Annual membership for two members is $500.

Yankees Select Blake Rutherford ’16

IMG_1229The New York Yankees have selected Chaminade outfielder, Blake Rutherford ’16 during the first-round of the 2016 Major League Baseball Draft. During his senior year, Rutherford batted .577 and had 45 hits. He is part of the Varsity Baseball team who clinched the school’s first Mission League title since 2005.

Valerie Higgins ’16 Named to USA Basketball Under-18 National Team

IMG_9556Chaminade’s CIF-SS Open Division player of the year, USC-bound guard, Valerie Higgins ’16 has been named to  USA Basketball Women’s U18 National Team.

After three days of trials at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the roster was announced, and Higgins was one of 12 players selected. She will travel with the team in July to Chile for the 2016 FIBA Americas U18 Championship. This is Higgins’ first call up to a USA Basketball event.

In addition to her All-CIF honors, she was selected to the Jordan Brand Classic All-American West Team, Daily News co-player of the year, and Los Angeles Times girls’ basketball player of the year.

 

Eagles Win Girls’ Basketball CIF Southern Regional Championship

With seconds to go in the CIF Southern Regional Open Division final, Leonna Odom ’16 put up a three-point shot which won the March 19 game. The buzzer-beater at the Walter Pyramid lifted the Eagles 50-49 over the Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits and gave Chaminade College Preparatory’s Girls’ Basketball team the CIF Southern Regional Open Division Championship.

Next they travel to Sacramento for the CIF State Open Division final on Saturday, March 26. Chaminade faces the Northern Regional Champion, Miramonte (Orinda), in a 6:00 p.m. tipoff at the Sleep Train Arena. General admission tickets are $16 for adults and $10 for students/children, and may be purchased at the venue or in advance through Ticketmaster.  For more information on State Championship ticket sales, please visit the CIF website.
