While students might spend Easter Break on vacation, or relax at home, some use it as an opportunity to serve others – and that is just what 15 of Chaminade’s 8th grade students did this year. They took a few days to travel to the San Francisco Bay Area to volunteer.
The trip was chaperoned by Chaminade teachers Jen Bader, John Apablasa, and Kate Lospalluto ’00, along with parent Sandi Alderton. Included among their stops was a visit to the Marianist community in Cupertino; the San Fancisco Food Bank; a visit to another Marianist school, Archbishop Riordan; various Vincent De Paul centers; the Catholic Worker; and the San Mateo Special Olympics. It was an amazing trip and quite the experience for Chaminade students. They truly lived out “service, justice, and peace”!
