Going to competition is not about winning, it is about friendship and fun! Is Harmony Chorus competitive? Absolutely!
I am so fortunate to work with amazing students who keep me laughing! They work so hard to do their best. Receiving a first place silver this April at the World Strides Heritage Festival in Las Vegas was a wonderful moment. This is the fourth year that Harmony has competed.
Competition allows me the opportunity to select quality music and Harmony ends up loving it. I have many students that continue singing in college. I currently have at least a half a dozen students from Chaminade who are following their dreams through majoring in music. Memories are made and cherished on a trip to compete.
In addition, I had the good fortune that Yuliya, a girl from Ethiopia, could see her first musical during our Heritage Festival trip. It was an evening I will never forget. One of this year’s highlights was seeing a Cirque du Soleil performance of LOVE, The Beatles cirque. Memories and friendships that will last a lifetime, singing together and understanding what it takes to succeed – Harmony, a job well done.
