The Chaminade Eagles are one-step away from winning their first football CIF Championship ever. After thwarting Cathedral 45-7, Chaminade only has to defeat Gardena Serra, but that is no easy task. Serra and Chaminade have established themselves as rivals especially after Chaminade defeated Serra in Mission League play 28-20 in a hard fought game. This game was the first time Chaminade defeated Serra in recent memory and as a result, multiple players from Serra want revenge.

Chaminade is riding a 9 game winning streak and really has been tested this past month. The Cavaliers have been led by QB Jalen Greene who has 22 touchdowns on the season and running back Malik Roberson, a sophomore with 10 TDs and over 1000 rushing yards. These two guys are integral to Serra’s offense and gave the Eagles trouble last time, so the Chaminade defense will need to make some adjustments in order to prevent a successful Cavalier attack.

This game will be played in a hostile atmosphere as the Eagles will have to travel to Gardena and have to beat a hungry Serra team in front of the Cavaliers’ home fans. However, Chaminade will have the support of its students, as multiple rooter buses will carry hundreds of die hard Eagles fans who will help the football team gain confidence on the road. It is important to note that the Eagles are undefeated on the road and are hoping to cap off a wonderful season with a win that would be a part of Chaminade history.

The drama unfolds this Friday night as the CIF champion of the Western Division will be crowned once and for all. You can also watch this game on Prime Ticket at 8pm.
