The Chaminade Middle School Mock Trial team went undefeated through a month of competition in the Constitutional Rights Foundation Mock Trial Competition to take the Los Angeles County title.  The Los Angeles County competition is one of the largest in the country with over 130 teams competing.  This is the third championship and fifth appearance in the finals in the six years of the program.

This year’s case, People v. Vega, involved an alleged hit and run by a teenage driver who was texting while driving.  The 15 team members prepared and presented the roles of attorneys, witnesses, and court staff as they argued their case in front of sitting judges and practicing attorneys.

This year’s team included eighth graders Lexie Afradi, Christopher Azarloza, Jack Cheney, Conor Fairtlough, Brooklyn Gigliotti, Christine Gotthardt, Anatalia Hordov, Kevin Kubo, Spencer Levitt, Veronica Mansour, Kristina Marter, Max Newman, Seth Parker, Charlotte Powers, and Grant Uberstine.  The team is coached by Jennifer and Bert Bader.
