Chaminade College Preparatory’s All-Star running back, Terrell Newby ’13 made a verbal commitment to the University of Nebraska on January 9, 2013. Stellar play, including a school record eight touchdowns against Harvard-Westlake this season helped Newby capture the attention of top NCAA Division-I football programs across the country. In December 2012, he was named Mission League Player of the Year and was selected for USA Football’s 2013 U-19 National Football Team.
During the 2012 season alone, Newby rushed for 2,305 yards and scored 45 touchdowns. He ended his Chaminade career with 105 touchdowns and more than 6,000 rushing yards. Newby led the Eagles to their first outright Mission League football championship since 2006. Newby also runs track for Chaminade. In May 2012, he was on the 4 x 400 relay team that won the boys’ Master title.
