Chatsworth Campus Construction Update

Chaminade College Preparatory’s middle school campus in Chatsworth is four months into a renovation and construction project which began in June 2014. The facilities enhancements include a new classroom building project, library expansion, center courtyard renovation and additional parking. The center courtyard and parking was completed by August, while the library and classroom buildings are scheduled for completion during the second semester of the 2014-2015 school year.

LIBRARY EXPANSION PROJECT – Concrete floor being poured.

On September 30, the library’s concrete floor was poured, while the foundation and steel beam installation were completed earlier in the month. The walls will go up during the following week. By the end of the project, Chaminade middle school students will have 4,600 square feet of learning and studying space. The expanded library will open by the start of the second semester.

In addition, early in the second semester, a brand new, 9,000 square foot, six-classroom building will open at the middle school. As of September 30, the block exterior is halfway complete. When the new classrooms are finished, middle school students and teachers will have flexible spaces which allow for more project-based learning activities, blended learning, and increased student engagement.
